Associates at the walk

On Oct. 13, 2018, more than 30 associates and their families from Life Care Center of Orange Park, Florida, participated in the local Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk benefitting the American Cancer Society.

“My husband, Gene, and granddaughter Kiley and I wanted to show our support for several friends who have fought breast cancer,” said Margery Flannagan, community liaison. “Some have won their battles, and a few have lost. We want to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer research so all patients will win in the future.”

The facility team raised $2,161 for the cause through bake sales, T-shirt sales, craft sales, cookouts and general donations in the weeks leading up to the event. Associates were also encouraged to show their solidarity with women fighting breast cancer by wearing pink the week before the walk.

In addition to the monies raised, the facility donated 15 cases of bottled water that associates and visitors had brought in as part of Life Care Centers of America’s participation in World Kindness Day, which is officially Nov. 13.
